Distinguished Professor, UCLA
Abdus Salam Chair Professor, LUMS
Asad Abidi received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College, London in 1976, and the Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981. He worked at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill until 1985, and then joined the faculty of the University of California, Los Angeles where he is Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering. With his students he has developed many of the radio circuits and architectures that enable today's mobile devices.
Professor Abidi has received the 2008 IEEE Donald O. Pederson Award in Solid-State Circuits and the 2012 and 2022 Best Paper Awards from the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits. He was elected Fellow of IEEE in 1996, Member of the US National Academy of Engineering in 2007, and Fellow of TWAS, the world academy of sciences, in 2010.
At present he is also the Abdus Salam Chair Professor at LUMS.
This three-day intensive workshop is intended for industry professionals, university faculty, and advanced graduate students interested in developing a deeper, physically intuitive understanding of analog CMOS IC design. Beginning with fundamental principles and progressing to selected advanced concepts, the workshop emphasizes analytical methods, physical insight, and optimal design strategies. Particular attention is given to important concepts and practical insights that are often overlooked or insufficiently emphasized in conventional treatments. The presentation is structured to accommodate participants with varying levels of experience in analog IC design, while offering deeper insights and advanced perspectives of value to experienced designers and educators. Even familiar circuit structures are revisited from new analytical and physical perspectives.
